Basketball Program

·  The Prettyboy Recreation Council Basketball Program is a youth recreation program for children ages 6 to 10. All children within this age range are eligible to play, no previous experience or skill is required.

·  Children ages 11 and up are eligible to play under the Herford Recreation Council. The Hereford Recreation Council also offers Travel Basketball programs for children more committed to this sport.

·  Children 6 and 7 participate in a clinic program that stresses social and team interaction, skill development and instruction in a game environment. Children 8 through 10 participate in a league with other districts in the area. The teams are limited to 9 players each to insure sufficient playing time for each child. At a minimum each child should play at least 2 out of 4 quarters.

·  Clinic teams are generally coed while older age groups are gender differentiated. Teams fall into three age groupings; 6-7, Clinic, 8 year olds, and 9-10 year olds.

·  Teams will generally meet twice a week for 1 hour practice or game beginning in November and ending in a league tournament in mid January.

·  The Recreation Council does not receive any funding from outside sources, the state, the county, or the federal government. All funds need to run this program are generated through registration donations, fundraisers and sponsors. Please make the effort to return all uniforms and equipment so that next year the program will no have to increase registrations.
